What a correct Threads post link looks like
A link to a single post has this shape:
https://www.threads.com/@username/post/C1a2B3c4D5e
The @username part is the author, and the code after /post/ identifies the post. Older links use threads.net instead of threads.com. Both work in ThreadSave. Extra parameters at the end, such as ?xmt=…, are harmless. You don't need to delete them.
In the Threads app (iPhone and Android)
Open the post
Scroll to the post with the video or photo. You can copy the link from the feed directly; you don't need to open the post first.
Tap the share icon
Under the post you'll find a row of icons: like, reply, repost and share. Tap the share icon (the paper plane). Some app versions also show the option in the three-dot menu (⋯) at the top right of the post.
Choose "Copy link"
Tap Copy link. A short confirmation appears and the link is now on your clipboard, ready to paste into ThreadSave.
Tip: Threads updates its app often, so icons and menu labels can move a little between versions. If you can't see "Copy link", look for it under "Share to…" or "More".
On threads.com in a browser (PC, Mac or phone)
On the web there are two ways:
- Address bar: click the post (on its text or timestamp) so it opens on its own page, then copy the URL from the address bar with Ctrl+C or Cmd+C.
- Share menu: click the share icon under the post and choose Copy link.
Both give you the same post link.
Common link mistakes
| What you copied | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
A profile link (threads.com/@username) | No media found: a profile isn't a single post | Copy the link of the specific post |
| The link of a reply instead of the original post | You get the reply's media, or none if the reply is text-only | Open the original post and copy its link |
| Link plus extra text ("look at this https://…") | "This doesn't look like a Threads post link" | Paste only the URL |
| An Instagram link | "This doesn't look like a Threads post link" | ThreadSave only works with Threads links |
| A post from a private account | No media found | Private posts can't be downloaded. Here's why |
After copying: paste and download
Open ThreadSave and paste the link into the input box. The download starts by itself as soon as a valid link is pasted. On phones you can also tap the Paste button next to the box. When the post's files appear, tap the button under each video or photo to save it.
